Gen6 Gen 6 Camry I4 AT Transmission problem

hello. guys

I own a 2007 Camry I4 with Automatic transmission.

For last few months, I've been experiencing harsh downshifting when I

go above 75km/h and decelerate through 40km/h. I can feel a knock from the

base of the car when I hit 40km/h and my rpm goes up by approx 200 rpm

(when I hit 40 km/h, the rpm is usually 1000rpm, but when I experience harsh

downshift, it goes up to 1200 rpm).

I went to my Toyota dealer several times with TSB for harsh

downshifting and they said they cannot do anything since they could not

duplicate the problem. The problem is not continously occuring. but it

happens more than once a day.

Is anyone else experiencing similar problem?

Since my dealershop could not help me, I was thinking about visiting a local

transmission shop.

I am sorry if this problem has been discussed before, but after searching for

few hours, I could not find the answer.

please help me out.

Thank you.

There is a TSB for it. Demand they apply it, or contact toyota corp.

Another poor searcher...............

Try the words you used..............harsh downshift and you can find it in 30 seconds.

Buy them books and send them to school..............

I wouldn't recommend going to a transmission shop. Just go to a different toyota. Or go back to the same one with some printed info on the TSB. I'm not sure if they will do the TSB's since we are in canada. I asked them about the gen5 for the steering shaft (car was out of warranty though) but they said there is nothing they can do about it. I dont even think they knew what the tsb was. Might of just been the dealer not wanting to fix something...
