5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I was pretty surprised to see that my 07 SE V6 is only worth 11-13k thats quite at hit considering I paid 30k. I though these cars were suppose to hold their value. We have around 85k miles on the car now and for the most part it has been pretty good to us. The only thing we have done besides the normal oil changes has been brakes and tires. One of the biggest compliants so far has been the interior noises. The dash rattles and squeeks. It has been to the dealer numerous times for this for days at a time and they cannot seem to fix it. Now I'm not talking a little noise, this is pure hell while driving, especially when it is cold out. The center console also squeeks and creeks as well. I am really surprised that the interior is of such sub standard quality. I would recomend paying a little more and get an Audi or BMW or a little less and get something from the Big 3. Sorry for the bashing but im just tired of driving a rattle trap. If anyone has a solution to these problems any help would be great.
I have been reading all the dash/windshield rattle posts for some time now, but as you can see at 85k miles it is out of warranty and to have the dealer start taking the interior apart on my dime just does not seem worth it. Live and learn thats all. I know that there are a lot of cars with no problems and im not totally unhappy with the vehicle, but when you do a lot of driving noises can drive you crazy!. I guess the biggest surprise is the low trade in value, and yes I know high mileage doesn't help. Just venting thats all.
How did you get 85K on it already??? I have a 07' that i bought in may of 07' and i haven't hit 21k yet. I have the noises too and now i think my driver side window rattles over minor bumps forget the big ones.
85k in 2 years? On average, people only do 12k-15k per year. How did you do 50k+ more? Are you driving from Conneticut to Washington state everyday or something?
i can't believe a camry would cost 30k. that is way too much, toyotas are suppossed to be "poor man's cars".
i would never pay more than 20k for any camry. japanese are crazy with those prices. a corolla can cost up to 25k, for that much a can get a fully loaded/leather etc. Jetta turbo diesel (44 miles per gallon).
wow you actually paid 30k for a gen 6 SE V6? i got quoted 27,500 for one from the dealer i looked at....jesus you got hosed
as far as the trade in value, its by and large the miles that drove the value down...i have 70k on my 2003 SE 4cyl and the value on my car is almost 10k....consider that my car is a 4cyl SE with no leather and its 4 years older than your car, and the value is close to the same...its all about the milage you have, and for my year i have very low miles and you have very high miles...i would not touch a used 2007 camry with 85k on it....you couldent pay me to buy a 2 year old car with near 100k miles on it...
I'm not defending the high mileage, but may be a 3 year old car--I got mine in May of 06.
