Vents not putting out air

A couple weeks ago, I did a twelve hour road trip with the family. After running for a few hours with the AC on, we noticed that there was no air coming out of the vents. We could hear the fan working (sound would change when set at different speeds), but there was no air. Changing from defroster, to dash, to floor vents did not fix anything.

So I turned off the AC and the fan, and rolled down the windows. 30 mins later, I play with the knobs, and everything works like normal again: cold air coming out of the vents. That lasts for about 3 or 4 hours and then it all goes bad again. Turn everything off for a half hour, and it all works again.

I haven't done a drive this long since, so I haven't been able to reproduce the symptom since. Any suggestions?

Your Cabin air filter needs to be replaced. It is restricting the airflow and causing the AC coils to ice up. This happened to me in my wifes Corolla on a hot humid day years ago and far from home. Made for a miserable drive home even after I pulled the filter on the road until the ice melted.
