Unhappy I think I broke my Clockspring...

Here's the story,

When I took my steering wheel apart to install my oem stalk w/ fog switch, I accidently opened the clockspring's front cover a little, but no wires came out, then I quickly tightened the cover back on.

After I put everything back together, everything works like normal, I don't feel or notice any problem with the steering, etc.

But a few days ago, I noticed that there is a clicking / ticking noise coming from the steering wheel, very little though, I had to turn off the radio and closed all windows to hear it.

So I took off the column cover and checked it, it sounds like the noise is coming from the clockspring, because it only clicks when I turn the wheel left or right (engine running), and when I rev up the engine a little, like 1-2K RPM.

What's the worse thing that can happen? Do you really think it's the clockspring or something else? What does it do anyway? A speed sensor or something?

Thanks ya all,

GT-R

Gen6

The spiral cable assembly transfers all the signals/power (audio, temp, airbag, cruise) from the rotating steering wheel to the steering column and beyond.

You wouldn't be the first to damage it..........
