5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I am really curious as to who has experience comparing the stock audio in the Camry vs the JBL option?
I am a pretty picky audio person, so I can tell good speakers and headphones from the bad.
To me, few, except the Lexicon system I've tested in the new Hyundai Genesis comes close to the STOCK Camry sound system. To me, this is pretty insane, but I am very very surprised. I drive a LOT of cars, as my firm uses Zipcars. These range from Volvos to Minis to Honda CR-Vs... I've also been test driving a bunch of different cars for friends lately as well (Accord, Sonata, Fusion, Forester etc).
The stock equalizer settings overemphasize bass to the point of unbearableness, I have it down to (-5), which works. I also have the Treble down to (-3) to compensate for some slightly inadequate midrange. But overall, every level is CLEAR and non muddy, and it makes everything sound good.
Has anyone else noticed this or have experience with the JBL?
You will be crucified if you don't use the search. as you already saw for yourself ^^
It's not that we're not interested in what you have to say or what questions you have but there are too many pointless or repeated threads around. Im sure if you posted the same question on google, it would most likely bring you to TN.
Is there any option to have it without the system but cable ready? Would they give you a few $100 off for not having any system? Errand thought.
i doubt that. And even if they did, the speakers use special harnesses. Its not the same copper wire type thing that you would use for your home stereo.

Really? I thought it's the push in clip that most speaker use. I know it's not the home speaker banana connector. When I install mine I solder them so they won't come off and make total contact.
my wife was able to blow both back speakers on her JBL stereo.
how did she do that? Have the bass on full scale and volume at 48...I still could not blow it, i.e. the system even reduces the bass to avoid such problems.
they have the blown sound, plop plop plop. Even at very low volume and bass set to 0 it sounds terrible. Could be a combo of abuse and maybe too much pressure created when closing the truck. Whatever it is, they sound terrible.

All speakers have a pos and neg terminal. There may be a special harness, you can splice it and use whatever you want.
