Gen6 Rough Idle

Hey I know I'm probably going to get hammered because this is probably posted in some obscure post (yes I did a search) or its buried somewhere in the manual, but:

Should a 09 I4 auto vibrate "sometimes" when sitting still at lights? I'd say about 50% of the time when I pull up to a light the whole car vibrates (a very fast humming like vibration you'd have from a cheap massage chair). If i pop into neutral it goes away. Then the other 50% of the time it idles fine.

I don't seem to remember my 05 doing this.

Check the intake, sometimes that causes the issue.

Otherwise, I'd say bring it to a dealership, you should be well within warranty periods.

Mine vibrates slightly as well, (5000 miles, '09 V6 LE) usually after some heavier revving, at idle. It sometimes vibrates just the steering wheel and sometimes I can feel it in the seats as well.

I know what the dealers will say if I take it in though.... ("It's normal/wear and tear")

Guess I'll make an appointment with the dealer. She's only got 600 miles on her, so I'm not worried.

I just wanted to see if there was a common problem that I should be aware of when they tell me "its normal."

With this issue, I got the it's normal over and over. Along with IMHO the motor being loud. After hearing a few other Toyota I4's, they do have a loud engine

Had them look at it today and of course it would not do it. Guess I'll have to wait until it does it more often.

It will not do it the next time. I took mine to the dealer with the EXACT same issue as yours. Excessive vibration at idle. It comes down some, when I turn the A/C off, but "sometimes" it just vibrates bad. If its the torque converter, the damn dealer does not want to check that unless it vibrates to them. I have about 5,000 miles left on my 60,000 warranty. I am taking it again for them to check that. Thanks.
