USA Visited Toyota Dealership for stuffs.

I Went to the Toyota dealership today and asked for the oil filter for the 2003 Camry I4 and the guy handed me a rather small filter( I have never done an oil change before but I would imagine the filter to be bigger than that). I was also planning to do one on my father 1992 Corolla I4 as well and he said that they both use the same oil filter. Is this true? I also bought a 65MMx14 Flutes oil filter wrench to help make the oil changing process much easier. But man 2 oil filter washer cost $3.16. The Oil filter number is 90915-YZZF2 and I noticed that it is already pre-oil around the rubber ring. Could someone verify this?

Should I go with Mobil 1 synthetic oil for my 03 Camry? The car has 69,000 miles on it and I am afraid that the synthetic will caused leakage.

As long as the service man check the part number and match the filter with your car, then it should fit.

on my camry, i use the same oil filter on my tacoma and 1992 ls400,

synthetic will not cause any leakage!

Run what ever you like as far as oil goes. I have used Mobil 1 for years and have moved some of my used cars with 70,000 miles+ from dino to synthetic oil. For the aluminum crush washer, go to advance auto or other parts store and buy a blister pack of them. I keep M12 and M14 washers in stock for our cars.

One last thing, pre-oiled or not I always lube the oil filter seal before installing it. It just gives me a little extra piece of mind.

the oem filter for the camry comes in both the F1 and F2 guise...the F1 is a taller filter, and thus holds more oil, and thats the one that i use...theyre what is reccomended by toyota for the I4 camry, but since the F1 and F2 have the same base fitament, theyre interchangable so you could use either one on a camry/corolla/anything with a 4cyl....its your choice to use whichever one you like...just request the tall F1 filter next time...not all dealerships stock both, so be alert and aware of your dealership's stock

i switched to mobil 1 at 39k, and no issues at all...the car does seep a tiny bit of oil from the valve cover, but thats because the less viscous composition of the synthetic oil...it may cause a tiny bit of seepage, but no major leaks...my car gets the full return of 4.2qts every 3-3.5k, and im now at 70k
