Greetings to the forum. Don't worry, I did at least do SOME searching. Problem is I am very bad with doing much of anything on a car that involves functionality (I CAN put gas in).
I have the crap 55W low beams that came with my '07 Camry LE. I have had headlight problems with my previous 2 cars (Intrepid, LHS) and never really did anything. Well considering my mom has a Toyota Avalon Limited that is 6 months older and has lights that are pretty much what I would love, I know it can be done.
I first went to the auto stores -- AutoZone, Pep Boys. They had zilch that wasn't the standard headlight bulb that doesn't do squat for me. AutoZone said they could order some UltraBright (or whatever the fancy name was) bulbs that would go in my car's H11 socket. I decided to check online and see what I could find.
After reading a lot of the HID-related posts, I'm still confused. I will first ask what the difference (if any) there is between HID and Xenon. I get the feeling that they're the same thing, but I wanted to make sure.
From the photos I saw of the different light outputs, the 4300k or 5000k output looks fine to me. I don't want to be one of those purple light people and I don't want to blind anybody -- except for all those SUVs who have lights at my eye level (grr).
But then I see all the mentionings of harnesses and kits. I am no electrical engineer, but that usually means having to know something about something to do. I was hoping for some pop bulb out, pop bulb in easy deal. But if there's a kit involved, I think I can at least try to figure it out. I mean I can fix a computer, so it's not like I'm a tech idiot.
Lastly, I wanted to know where I can find some of this. I did some searches for places to buy but didn't see any Web sites that I recognize. I don't want to buy from someone who is better known as Jack's Crap Shack.
So that's my abbreviated post.

I appreciate any help I can get. Since I have Tuesday off, I think I'm going to head to the dealership to see what they say and then see what you guys think. Thanks!!
