5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I have searched around for this problem and found a couple descriptions of it. When listening to FM radio it at random seems to drop in volume like a speaker went out. Is this just lousy reception or a other issue? I do not notice any static. I thought it was a blown speaker or bad HU, but it does not happen on CDs. Nobody has posted a solution.
Here is how other owners describe it:

My "07 Camry has issues with the sound on fm stations cutting out half way and then slowly returning to normal only to repeat that a couple times a minute... Dealership said it my be new antenna style. They wont fix it... what a surprise.

have about 1700 miles so far on my new Camry, I realy love the car. I have recently noticed some issues with my radio. Sometimes it sounds as if a speaker goes out when coming to a stop, or turning at low speeds. I have not been able to narrow it down to a front or rear speaker yet, tried FAD, BAL to single out either front/rear, or left/right. Even tried it with ALS on/off.
Anyone else having problems with their radio??

Have the basic Fujitsu model in my '07 4 banger SE, have had static/hissing poor reception since day one of local FM stations here in TO! Dealer attacked problem by replacing HU instead of checking antenna operation; introduced 4 different stereo issues with 4 re-furbished stereo's. Letter to president finally got me a New HU, just learned that AUX port fails to see 2 new MP3 player (IPod and Sansa), works in other Toyota vehicles. Toyota has shown no remorse. Pathetic!
My radio reception blows my mind how good it is. There are some stations from Wichita that come in barely because of interference from other stations that I can pick up pretty dang good.
I don't know what else would cause the volume level to change on the FM radio other than reception. It does not happen on a CD. So my only other guess is the poor reception caused by the area, window tint, or some sort of broken component on the audio system.
Annoying as hell when your listening to the radio.
The person in the second quote on my first post was never able to find a solution to the problem.
Any other thoughts are welcome.
