5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Knowing that the Camry is stereotypically a family car, whilst driving around, especially on the highway, do people try to race you?
If so,
-Do you think it is because of how you drive?
-Is it because you modded it so look/sound sportier?
-^ If so, at what point did it really make a difference?
-Do you think it is because of the aforementioned stereotype; thus making it an easier target to challenge?
Also, if so,
Say you are challenged, and you decide to give the guy a run for his money, do you usually win? Or do you get smoked?
This has been happening a lot to me recently, and although I don't condone it, it is very interesting, and I would like to know if it ever happens to you guys.

i get it a lot of times
but i have a auto I4, n my car is not for racing hehe

Why would you ever try to race mustangs, chargers, GTIs, and STIs with an i4 camry? Hell, who am I kidding I would probably put my foot down too. It happened to me once because of my driving fast, but you probably get challenged for your look.

Reason: before njerald corrects me...
I challenge mustangs and such off of red lights and overtaking on the highway all the time. Just slap it into the lowest gear she'll go and put it to the floor. Haven't lost yet. Ive even beat a GT mustang. Ive also beat an is250, altima, maxima, accord, civic, BMW 330I (look on the guys face was classic) 10th gen corolla XRS, and i was dead even with a 350Z. People don't give the Camry credit. Its fast as hell, and can beat most cars on the road.

FYI, this is borderline of street racing. So dont be surprised if this gets closed.
Ok hold on.
I am not condoning, or asking how you race on the streets.
I clearly state at the top what all I am asking, and all I want to know is if we (Camry owners and drivers) get challenged to race for any specific reason.
I cannot control what other members post about if they feel the need to express exactly how or who they race.
So I guess from this point on,
If you would like to express your views on the topic, do so, but please, do not express how you race, or encourage it.

Grats, you're still a kid.
I get challenged most often by american muscle cars. I usually smirk at them and let them peel away.

i didnt start it, they did then i just wanna to play n keep up then..... u know what happen next
I let them waste their gas peeling off from a red light, then pass them down the road at cruising speed because they are shitty drivers and don't know how to navigate traffic efficiently. I'm in a military town, so it's mostly Mustangs.
