replacing JBL sound system in 09 SE with higher end speakers
Hi
as the title says, i would like to replace them and get much higher quality speakers etc. i did a search but couldnt find much on this topic which i feel mout have been talked about often.
any recomendation on which speakers to get?
also if you have replaced yours please feel free to share your opinon thanks.
I would like to replace the exisiting speakers with higher end speakers for better quality sound output. i dont want to do a aftermarket deck, just want to keep things clean and OEM looking.
whe you mean amp them? what do you mean. im a noob when it comes to audio equipment. any help would be great.

Since you are a noob, when you say "higher end speakers" than do you really mean just replace them with a aftermarket speaker or actual high end speaker. Are you familiar with alpine products? As an example when you say you want to replace your speakers with higher end speakers, would you pick the type-s or the type-r's ? So for the front, 6x9 coaxial type-s or 6.5" type r components.
When you ask about the amp, it is to provide more power to the speakers since the stock head unit provides a very low amount of power to the speaker and after market speakers tend to require more power to be played at its full potential.
And since you have the JBL unit im fairly sure its not just plug and play and you would have to do alot of wiring.
To tell you the truth, since you did say you are a noob i would just say keep the jbl system. It is better than the stock and is good enough for the average person. Or if you really want to upgrade your going to have to do alot more research. Maybe go to a local audio store and asking them some question's etc.
it comes down to one thing- how much are you willing to spend? $1K? $2K? let us know and then we can help from there, otherwise we can just name components that you'll never be willing to buy, like a macintosh amp for $2K

yeah i am a noob and will be going to a shop to have it professionally installed.
the JBL sounds good but i would like to have something better audio wise.
I am willing to go $2k+ if needed but i dont want to cut out holes or anything to add speakers. i think the 8 i have are good enough and keep it OEM looking.
what do i need in order to have better audio output. im not familiar with the audio equipment so i need someone to break it down to me aka audio for dummies style lol.
what i understand so far is i need an AMP i think.. to provide more power to perhaps better speakers. these speaker will replace the JBL ones i have in the car.
well if your budget is 2k, you have A LOT of options. Would you consider a double din touchscreen/navi head unit? It isnt too flashy and it will broaden your options.
As for speakers, I recommend just going with a front component set, amplified, and one 10" or 12" subwoofer. With medium to high end equipment, this will all sound AMAZING.
I would check out our AV and security section. There are knowledgable people there that can point you in the right direction when picking equipment. I believe there is also a good, bad and ugly list of car audio brands.
Just for reference, if your camry was anything like mine. the "higher end" 6x9's wont fit unless u custom fabricate a speaker mount
Unless your lucky enough to find one.
Even with the extra work I beleive its well worth it. I went along with 2 pairs of Kenwood KFC-6982ie, 5 way coaxial speakers pushing 500 watts max power each, all powered by a 2000 watt 4 channel Lanzar Amplifier.
Well im no expert but ill throw out what i know if anything is incorrect please feel free to correct me im still learning.
First off i would say find some speakers you like that fit your budget go to audio stores and sample them then you can go online and order them probably cheaper then the retail the stores are asking after that figure out how much power is needed to push them then find a suitable amp plus add how much installation will be also ask you local store about ohms from what i heard they play a role in sound quality i believe higher ohms is better quality not sure about that. Hope i was able to help you out somewhat keep us updated on what you decide to go with.
