Gen5 02 Stereo Upgrade Help

I have an 02 SE with factory JBL Nav. I'm looking to replace the HU and bypass the factory amp. I've searched a bit on the forums here, but I have seen no reference to 02 Nav units (i'm guessing they were kinda rare) Either way I was trying to preserve the wiring and not cut anything if possible. I know this works on 03+ with a scorche kit, but i called them and they said mine is different than the 03+ HUs. I find this a bit hard to believe, but hey stuff changes. Does anyone know for sure about this? If so what kit should I get? Crutchfield offers this one:
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1207017...977&tab=review
But that only came up when i put in JBL system non-nav.

The other question I had was is there any clearance issues in the doors or rear deck for 6x9s? Do I need a special mount kit for the speakers or will they go into the factory openings.

As I said before I'm looking to preserve the stock unit so I can sell it with a functioning factory nav. I dont want to cut any wires if i can avoid it.

Thanks in advance!

Phil

you will need a speaker adpter for the 6x9 speaker. The window will hit the 6x9 when rolled down.

the harness for the 02 and 03 is the same.

I will try to answer your question about the JBL wire harness later, I remeber i asnwer a question like this before.

Gen5

do i need a thin speaker adapter or a thicker one? I'm going with a set of 6.5 MB Quarts for both doors. I'll custom mount the tweaters in the dash because i know i have to do that. the rears look like they should mount right up to the deck where the old ones were.

I would reccomend putting the tweeters as close to the woofers as possible. It will be better for sound imaging. If you are getting custom baffles(adapters), then you might as well have them built to house the tweeters along side.. These are mine for my gen 5.5 made by MrMarv:

Damn the guy who made those baffles make it look so professional! I could never get that clean of a cut with the mdf board.

Anyways does the baffle push our on the door? or does the door cover fit over the speaker+baffle nicely?

IIRC....

CamrySExxx- He is a professional woodworker I believe.. his name is MrMarv on here
Lou- Nothing on the back for runoff, I think I may have put some sound dampening material between the baffles and the doorskin

I've searched and found a few references to the MrMarv speaker baffles, but nothing about how to obtain a set. His user name bounces back PMs.

They look fantastic, and just what I'm needing/looking for to complete my 02 Camry installation.
