5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I have the new pics of the 2010 Camry’s as well... just not on this comp. There on my dad’s comp Ill have to get them another day. They are now all LED tails from factory all trim levels as well as the sport is now black headlight surround.
Also the sport now gets 179hp 10hp over the other trim levels so all other trim’s with the I4 get 169hp. And yes it’s a diff engine. 2.5L I4. I don’t know if it’s still the same old 2.4 board out a bit or a totally new engine I would think board out. But I’m not sure. I also heard that 2011 we would see the new 2.7L from the Venza.
Also 3 new colors a new REALLY METALLIC darker green a lighter tan that is already offered and a sky blue. Don’t know the actually names just going by what I saw to tell you what they actually looked like.
And also the sport gets new wheels as well. The trims that have steel rims get new covers as well. Thats all I can think of right now.
I will hopefuly get my dad to send me thos pic's for tomo.

Its a new engine from the 2AR series of engines (replacing the 2AZ). The biggest change seems to be Dual VVT-i although I'm sure there are many smaller details. This new 2.5L is also in the facelifted RAV4.
I used to think the 2.7L from the Venza (also a 2AR engine) might make its way into the Camry but seeing as its going in the Highlander I think maybe that one is going to be kept for the heavier vehicles. The new 2.5L seems to have more than enough power and fuel economy is going up again.
I suspect that the 2.5L will show up in the next gen Camry and that further fuel efficiency gains will be made somewhere else.
Yea, I do think this is bull. All manufacturers are doing is adding additional weight to their vehicles. Sure power is good, but fuel efficient is more important at this moment.

^ Gas prices are the cheapest they've been in several years.
It won't stay. It's already going back up.
Also, the EPA mileage has been redone in recent years so it's more accurate. I can tell because it says for the 06 i4 I should be getting 23 in town and 32 on the highway. While my in town has been 20-23, I get about 29-31 depending on how I drive.

.......
I love the new green, I've seen it on one of the big Toyota SUVs and it really is rich looking. However, I do NOT like what they did to the front grille and air dam on the Camry, it's starting to look kinda GM to me...
