5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
My apt complex has a lot of speed bumps that are ridiculously high. My 99 Camry hits the floor if I dont slow down to a snails pace. Does any of you know what the clearance is on the 09 Camry SE? Also anyone have experiences with speed bumps to share haha.
i got 9" when i took a ruler and had it stand side by side the front of the SE.
minimum ground clearance on the se v6 CAN be 5.1", but it's really not. at the lowest, my car stood at 4" from the ground with lowering from coilovers. i don't think the stock fender gap is just 1.1"
if the SE came just 5.1" from the ground, then no one would be wanting to buy coilovers since the car is already low enough...

That's true.

I haven't had any problems with my car. There is one excessively high speed bump in this one parking lot for apartments that I can thnk of. It caused me to scrape the bottom of my car on it. However usually speed bumps or steep driveway entrances are not a problem. Just keep from hitting them head on if you have problems now.
It's all about going over on an angle, one wheel at a time or at 45 degrees.
Go slowly and you should be fine, and be wary when parking to keep the lip safe. I've seen too many SE's with cracked lips around here because the drivers are too careless or don't remember that they have a large lip attached to the front bumper.

I can assure all that my 99 Camry I4 would hit every little bump or high curb cut. It was the exhaust pipe that seemed to hang low from day one. My 07 V6 has never had an issue with this.

Yeah I know exactly what you mean, I have a 99 Camry and a 2000 Camry (00 doesnt look right lol) that has the same problem.
I need to see like a youtube video of this one wheel at a time maneuver. I have seen ppl do it with extremely low cars but never attempted it myself.
