2003 Camry Exhaust question

I got my 2003 camry xle last march. I have always driven a truck so my first week having my new camry I backed up into a parking space and hit my exhaust pipe on the berm of the sidewalk. I inspected it and looked ok at the time. since then a rattle has occured. Comes to find out the exhaust pipe has been pushed up against the frame and is causing the rattle. Aslo My mechanic says that the flex pipe is cracked (or broken) and needs to be fixed. Now here is the question, Can I just purchase the flexpipe? or do i have to get the pipe and cat together? I dont have a ton of money to spend right now and have an inspection soon. What do you think is my best option. Also the rear part of the exhaust need to be redone also............

Go to a muffler shop and they can replace the flex section. They can probably cut out the broken flex section and weld in just the flex part, not the ends. The whole section to replace is expensive. If you are strapped for cash, they can prob get the rear to stop rattling cheaper than replacing that section. I find the smaller muffler only shops are more willing to repair than replace.

you cannot purchase just the flex pipe, it is one piece with the cat... and will cost you ~$700 for an OEM part. you can go aftermarket, but you run the risk of it not fitting... so i would definitely go the muffler shop route. have them cut out the broken flex pipe and weld in a new one. far cheaper and you retain the stock cat... nothing is wrong with it, so why bother replacing it?

i have been in the same situation with my dad's van. one of the flex pipes broke... OEM front pipe (includes two flex pipes and cat) cost $1200 for the part alone. Ending up buying a $800 aftermarket front pipe that didn't fit when it arrived... luckily i was able to return it, but i took a loss on the shipping. took the van to a muffler shop and they fixed it for $200.
