what are your spring rates? if they are somewhere 7-10 kg in front, and 4kg to 7 kg in rear. I would recommend you get lower spring rates. For example, tein ss coilovers come with 6kg front and 3kg rear imo best for daily driven and occasional track.

Pre-load refers to tension on the springs while there is no weight on the spring(car in the air)
The Megans allows two ways of ride height adjustment.
1.) You can adjust the lower spring seat up or down. Adjusting here changes where the strut shaft sits, so adjusting ride height this way changes suspension travel and changes spring preload. With the Megans, you do not want too much preload, too much preload= harsher ride. You want the spring to be snug but not compress because the megans will allow to you further adjust the height by using #2 below
2.) You can adjust the bottom ring which controls where the bracket sits on the strut. Adjusting with the lower mount simply moves the whole strut assembly relative to the chassis without changing suspension travel or changing spring preload.
darksparkz: I know you are interested in the tein ss. With the tein super street, you adjust ride height using #1.
hope this helps
edit: here are some pics of my ksports
the ksport adjustability is the same as the megans coilovers
So 100% of the height adjustment on the Tein's are only by lowering or raising where the spring sits.
As for the Megans/K-Sports, do you only get half of the lowering rate by adjusting the bottom ring, and the other half by actually preloding the spring? Or do you still get full adjustability by adjusting the bottom ring.
In that regards, even with the lower 6k/3k spring rates on the Tein SS, since you may end up preloading the springs more if you drop it more, that would cause the spring itself to be much stiffer in general?
Sorry to OP if this is threadjacking, but similar concepts on adjusting coilovers for comfort though =)

Yes with the tein ss series, the height adjustment is only by moving the spring up and down. With the teins, if you want to lower the car, you moved the rings down... therefore the springs is less compress aka less preload=softer ride.
With the megans/ksports. They have full adjustability by adjust the bottom ring. They adjust ride height using method #2 because #1 will only do so much.

No.
Not meaning to take away from all the helpful suggestions that other members here are posting, but with coilovers in general, you will ALWAYS have a harsher ride compared to normal springs and struts. It is simply the nature of the trade off that a lot of people should think about before switching over. It trades ride comfort for improved handling and chassis dynamics. Great if you track your car a lot, but horrible for daily driving if your city has bad roads. I've had both setups on my car and can attest to the truth behind each.
If you want the ride comfort, then get airbags, but even those will only help so much because of your 20 inch wheels and ultra low profile tires.
That's the price you pay for looking good.
