I'm just taking a guess at this point, but maybe the fuse blew out? Check the fuse box.

x2.. did you have your lights in the ON position when trying to replace them? your harnesses seem fine(not melted) so a melted harness/wires is most likely out of the question..

its not uncommon for this to happen

thanx u guys were dead on. blown fuse.

the owners manual suggest for headlight (low) 9006, 51W, type B

i see for replacement bulbs from Sylvania, their 9006 bulbs have 55W... would that lead to blown fuse/ headlights not working/ other problems?

thanx

You might want to try putting in a new fuse, then try the new 55w bulbs. If the fuse blows out again, don't use the new 55w and get a different kind. I would seriously doubt that a difference of 4 watts should cause the fuse to blow normally, but I am not an electrical expert.

put in the replacement 9006 and the lights did not come on. so i thought the replacement one must be burnt out.

then i put back the OEM one and it did not come on (only driver-side OEM came on).... i did not touch the bulb's glass/ tip, hold on to the bulb on its base.

may be the OEM burnt out that fast (during this 3 minutes period?).

then to test if it is the passenger-side bulb that was burnt out or something else, i put the bulb to the driver-side and it worked!..... so it was not the bulb..

which is not good. if it was the bulb then it would be an easy replacement,

what might be causing this in this 3 min. period? is it the brown-ish connector (pictured below) that is causing this? wires (but i did not yank on the wires)? or something else? (hopefully nothing big!)...

thanx

Looks like you have a loose contact. the third photo looks like the contact on the left, is not as tight (close together) the one on the right. The fourth photo shows heat around the Red [I think] Green wire as it enters the socket.

Should not be a problem going from 51W to 55W since they're the same bulb with different rating.
