Hey sorry to thread jack but what bulbs emit a white beam? Also do these same bubls fit the fog lights for an 08 camry? Have you guys bought bulbs off ebay? Sorry for so many questions but thanks for the help anyone.
^ To answer your question, any bulbs that have a medium to little blue tint with give you a white beam. Fog bulbs might be different, check with your manual or bulb list that are available for your fogs. I have bought my bulbs from eBay many times only because they're cheaper compared to the ones sold in stores. So far, I haven't had any issues with them.
icqboy51: 750 hours is pretty bad, did you meant 7500 hours? Because that's above average for most bulbs. LEDs last a bit over 10000 hours. So if you have a bulb that runs over 7500 hours is pretty good.
NONE of them will last as long as the stock OEM bulbs. The OEM bulbs are sylvania standard bulbs. If you look at Sylvania's own packaging, the standard bulbs get five bars (whatever that means) for longevity, whereas the Silverstars get one bar (and their other bulbs fall in between).
I just recently changed out one of my bulbs and was surprised that the bulb I was taking out was identical to the stock sylvania I was putting in (was waiting for the Silverstar Ultras I bought to get here but needed a bulb in the meantime). It's lasted me 5 and a half years (of somewhat light use though, my car has about 4 years worth of miles), and the other bulb is still pretty bright so I might get quite a bit more out of it.
That said, if you don't mind changing bulbs once every 1-2 years the Silverstar Ultras aren't too bad-but it really just makes it obvious how much greater the profit margins are on those-you make a bulb that lasts 1/5th as long and then sell it for 3x the price when it really doesn't cost any more to manufacture.
The HIRs are very bright, but they're brighter because the coating is reflecting a lot of the lost heat back onto the filament to make it burn even brighter. That is not actually good for bulb life either, so don't expect OEM longevity out of any of these bulbs-they all make more light by burning the filament brighter!
