5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I have a 2004 Camry LE Special Edition that I purchased in Alabama as is. I'm at 75K miles and I guess it's time for new struts, but I have no idea what to replace them with. Are the struts for the Camry LE different from the struts on a Camry LE Sport edition? Would I use a Camry SE struts? Please help...
Your struts should still be good. My friends 2002 XLE has the original struts and they're fine. And you just have an LE with a body kit, probably dealer add-on. SO when you do need them, all u need is LE struts.

Thank you so much for the input. When I purchased the car from the Southeastern Toyota dealer, I was told that my car was fully decked out with all the sport edition's stuff, too. My car came with the ground effects and 18" BBS rims. She told me that I had a sports suspension, too. She told me that this was something that only the Southeastern Toyota distributors had. I guess she lied to me =(
But as far as the suspension, it's fine... but it doesn't feel the way it did when it was new and like Njerald said, you'd know it when/if you replace.
i am about 93k on stock strut, it work fine no problem yet and i am lower too. Your camry is just a CAmry LE. Your lips kits is call SET (south eastern totoya) which only Southeastern Toyota distributors have.
I remember a few posts regarding the "Sport Editions" in the Southern East Toyota Dealers over at one thread at the Avalon part of TN. Its just some kind of "special" those dealerships have adding BBS wheels and some ground effects.
Struts degrade very slowly, so slowly that you'll think that they are OK even when they are worn out.
If you drive a Camry with new struts and compared it to yours, you would notice a difference. Depending on the driving conditions, 75k is about the right time to replace the struts if the car has been driven on poor roads for its entire life.
I'd recommend getting a set of Monroe Sensa-Trac or KYB GR-2 struts and a 4-wheel alignment.
