Buying minor parts from dealership: do they install free?
I was thinking about buying an exhaust tip, wood dash kit, and leather shift knob from a dealership. Would they install that for free? Or would they charge labor even though I think it is pretty minor.
Would it be better to buy those parts else where and do it myself? The prices seem similar to a dealers. Like the dash kits are around $230 from both places.

If you're were going to buy parts else where and install it yourself, why dont you buy it from dealership and install it yourself. If your dealership is nice, they'll install it for free. They would do it if you just bought the car from them.
With the shift knob, all you have to do is turn it so that it unscrews and put the one you want. Isnt the dash kits just held in place with double sided tape? Isnt the exhaust tips just bolted on or something? Just do it yourself and worry about price.
no. they won't install it for free. why don't you install it by yourself. you can save lots of $$$ if you install it by yourself. here try this www.toyotapartsexpress.com
99.9% of dealerships will not install anything for free. My friend bought a new shift knob for his Celica and the dealership wouldn't even install that even though all you needed to do is unscrew it and screw the new one back in!
Dash kits are easy. All you need is a steady hand, and a blowdryer (preferrably a heat gun). Shift knob takes two seconds (screw off and new one on) And the exhaust tip also takes two seconds and is impossible to screw up. The dealership will still charge you for all of them, especially the dash kit because it is very time consuming. A quick tip for the dash kit:
Line up the piece you are about to put on, before peeling off the film to reveal the sticky part. Have your heat gun ready, and peel back a small portion of one side (easiest working from right to left), and keep heating the trim kit as you go. This will mold the plastic (you'll feel that it gets softer) to your dash. Keep peeling back bit by bit, heat it, press it down, and repeat. The smaller the section that better it will mold. If you start it straight, it will end up straight, especially molding it at the same time.
I went in the evening time to get all the parts and asked if they would do it for free. Guess it never hurts to ask since they did do it. Hurrrray. Thanks for tips though. If you nag em enough they'll do anything haha.
Hmm, what dealership did you go to? Longo Toyota where I bought my car won't give you anything free. I was buying the car and asked for a soda or something to drink while we were signing the papers. They told me to go buy it from the vending machine.
