Gen6 Need Advice on Tires

ok I will start by saying this

I have searched and found nothing on this......

Now I am looking for a set of tires to replace the toyos.... However I have come to a problem on selecting the right one...

By the way I own a SE v6

Michelin Primacy MXV4 H rated.... for 143/each

the problem I am having is that the stock Toyo are V rated and the primacy are H rated.....

Is that nothing to worry about......? Am I going to feel the performance diffrence in handling for anything....

have any members installed the primacys on there camrys?? if so How do they handle...?

thanks

I have the Primacy MXV4s on my hybrid. I absolutely love them. Granted, the hybrid model isn't exactly sporty, but I absolutely love the tires. Extremely nice ride, great in the snow, and extremely quiet.

I highly doubt that going down to an 'H' rated tire will cause any serious changes in handling characteristics.

I recommend them- I've had them on my car since November, and have no complaints.

*they aren't really sporty- so keep that in mind- they are a luxury tire- not a sport tire.

I HIGHLY recommend the Pilot Exalto A/S tires which are available in H and V-rated variants. I've got them installed on both Camrys and they are by far the best tires I've ever used. I had to special order them through Costco because all they had in stock at the warehouse was the Primacy MXV4 - I passed on those because of my previous poor experience with the Energy MXV4 w/ a similar tread design, and the Pilot Exaltos were sportier and got good ratings on Tire Rack's website.

I don't know where you're going to get your tires installed, but my first choice was Michelin X-Radials (due to their lower cost and high ratings) but they are only T-rated so Costco refused to install them on my Camrys. They said for liability reasons, they will only meet or exceed the factory speed rating. Makes sense.. So, keep that in mind if you're looking to switch to H-rated.

Anyway, you can't go wrong with the Pilot Exaltos. They're fantastic in the dry and resist hydroplaning better than any other tire I've tried. No snow in Hawaii so I can't comment on that

I put H rate tires on mine.... put about 10K on the tires and once in a blue moon I crank it up to 105mph (for about 1 or 2 miles distance). No, I am not typing this from the after life. LOL

Think I'll go with Yokohama on my next set of tires which should be in 2 years. I heard many good recommendations on Yokohama.

There should be 2 or 3 threads on here talk about replacing tires.

Michelin Pilot... depending on the size you need, Exalto should be good. I personally have Z rated Pilot Sport A/S Plus (best of the best) in 225/45/18 on TRD wheels.

These tires actually are the only A/S performance tires from Michelin available in the TRD recommended size. They come with 45K mile warranty too, which is why I'm not worried about them wearing out.

I don't think you will need to worry about the tire's safety difference between an H (130mph) and a V (149 mph).
However, it is my understanding that Toyota factors the speed rating of a tire (which translates to sidewall stiffness) into the suspension engineering.
Some tire dealers will not allow you to install tires with lower speed ratings than OEM and I hear some will let you drop by one rating (such as V to H).
