Last week, I replaced my worn out stock Toyo 215/55R17 tires with 28,200 miles, with 4 Bridgestone Potenza RE960A/S Pole Position 235/50R17 tires with W speed rating.
Besides the wider footprint and all weather performance specs that fit my needs, they have the same diameter as my stock tires, so there'll theoretically be no speedometer error.

Is the aspect ratio correct 50? If so the diameter is not the same as stock 55.
it will have smaller sidewall, by 5 percent.
How does the steering feel with the wider tires? Are the SE rims wide enough for 235? Do it look like the side wall is pulled in?

Hi,
I was going by the specs of the Bridgestone Potenza G019 215/55R17, which was the replacement for the stock tire on the Camry SE.
Both the G019 215/55R17 and the RE960A/S Pole Position 235/50R17 listed a spec of tire diameter of 26.3 inches.
This would translate into the same circumference for both of them
I wasn't able to get specs for the original equipment Toyo Proxes J33 215/55R17's, so I don't know the tire diameter of them.
So if they aren't also 26.3 inches, then there will be a speedometer error.

I recommend a 50 profile tire. For an all-season tire, you should check out the Michelin Energy MXV4 S8 tires. Here in Canada, this is the stock equipment. I don't normally ever praise standard issue tires, but this tire model is VERY quiet, offers very good dry grip and it wears out slowly.
For a summer performance tire, look at something from the Michelin Pilot line or something from Yokohama - the S.Drive I think it's called. Last but not least, explore the BFGoodrich G-Force line of tires.

215/45/17 would be way too thin if you are not lowered as I had them on my old bbs', if you are going to stick with 215 width then I recommend nothing lower than 50

*************** YOUR ADVICE IS CORRECT. I am replacing my LEV6 215/60R16 inch Turanzas. To stay with factory specs I went with what comes on the SE. I am buying a set of aftermarket 17x7 Motegi US7 wheels with factory spec 5.114 bolt pattern wheels and putting on a set of Michelin Primacy 215/55R17 tires. Any deviation from factory OEM specs is risky!
