5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I have a 4 cylinder 2006 Camry LE with a factory radio/CD player, and I would like to add a standard input jack (I think it's 3.5 mm) so I can listen to my MP3 player, which is a SanDisk e270R.
Is this possible?
I don't think my radio has an aux input built in (I don't see a button labeled "aux").
Nope. Search. Although what I ended up doing was I finally found a decent FM transmitter so I already had a DC to AC inverter from Wally World then just bought a power hookup for the FM transmitter. It's a lot of wires but works for now. But you can replace the head unit.
FM transmitters suck. You can A. either get a whole new headunit with aux input or B. buy a USASpec or other aux input module. If you're going with the latter, make sure and get a PAC SNI-1/3.5 noise filter to eliminate ground loop interference.
USASpec doesn't have one for the OEM Toyota headunits but I think PAC does. Try part number aPAC-TOY1.
If not then it looks like an aftermarket head unit is the best way to go.
Seconded. I have 3 of these device: 1) 2003 4Runner, 2) 2005 Toyota Corolla, 3) 2006 Toyota Solara Convertible.
It is so much clearer than FM transmitters. To use the aux port, just hit the CD button till it gets to CD1..Track 1 (for AUX1) and track 2 (for aux2)
I got my 3rd one from eBay for my brothers corolla for $26

How is the install? And do the steering wheel audio controls work with it?
I wouldn't mind having an AUX input but only if it's not too much trouble.

you can add the usa spec pa12-toy or pa15-toy, if you search for 16860 you will find that someone did put a pa12 on their car and it works fine. since the pa12 had been discontinued, the pa15 has taken over and another member on the site posted that the pa15 works fine as well with the factory radio with 1 cd (no cassete no jbl), someone else had posted about Axxess AIP-TY02-ID and its is stated that it works fine.
Just this week I installed a USA Spec DF-TOY, its the adapter that has two inputs in RCA format. So I bought a cable that goes from a 3.5mm plug to RCA plug. I have the radio with 1 CD, no cassette, no JBL, on the front of the stereo it says 16860. In order to listen to my ipod, i press the CD button, once for the CD and twice for the Adapter. You might be able to find a USA SPEC PA12-TOY around but since they are discontinued, you can get the USA SPEC PA15-TOY, it works just fine. you can find it on ebay for about $100.
I wouldn't get a USASpec PAC unit. My PAC12-TOY has been acting up lately. Can't do random songs and shuts off in the middle of the song.
Maybe USASpec has fixed the bugs in their new models, but I wouldn't buy another one of their products again. I'm picking up the OEM iPod module next week and tossing my PAC in the trash.
