Hey, I thought I would pick your guys brain on this topic since you guys know this car inside and out.
I am looking to replace my door speakers, dash tweeters (?), and rear deck speakers. Also, I would like to add a 10" sub and amp.
What do you guys recommend for this type of setup? Any recommendations on brand, or speaker size?
Oh yeah, and what nav unit would you guys recommend? I am looking for something with a good OS software and navigation program. HD radio, and Sirius are a definite plus as well.

I can't speak about speakers.. but on head units.. I'm not sure if there are any "good" ones. If you want nav built in get the factory one. Should be able to get one off e-bay or a junk yard. Or what I would do it get a portable nav unit and just get an audio only stereo. Sat radio cut the quality in half when they merged all the channels and now the entire thing could be bankrupt. HD radio might be nice. I use an iPod adapter in mine, nothing like a 4000 song juke box on random. I have two LEs an 07 and 09. I have the USASpec adapter in one and the DICE adapter in the other. Neither are perfect and picky about your iPod software version but they both let you use the radio and steering wheel controls and display artist and title on the radio. Might even be able to find a head unit with iPod integration and HD radio built in, that would be cool.
I'm doing the same, but I'm keeping my headunit. I don't know what the difference would be except maybe more treble, bass, etc control.
I'm going with JL 500/1 amp and JL 12w6v2. From what I have read and seen, w6 will shake your car like crazy so no need for a w7.
I was thinking about getting components...but I'm not sure it is necessary yet. I haven't installed the sub yet. My main objective is to make my system louder so I might end up having to replace speakers too anyway.
If i do I'm going with RE or Polk for component speakers.
I have some equipment for sale if you are interested. If not, I can point you in the right direction...I have been blowing my money on sounds for the last year, thats why I havent got a lip kit yet. lol.

seriously...I had this in my dad's F150 and it sounded GOOD. Had an IPOD hooked up with all his music and couldnt complain. Best of all is that it looked stock so no one would be tempted to break in and take anything.

Running an amp to a factory head unit with or without aftermarket speakers will only be so good because a fact head unit, not only has a lower RMS wattage rating power wise, but a pre-set equilization curve that will only allow the amplifier to DO SO MUCH. Because the factory head unit has pre-determined and unchangable settings, from frequency pass, to bass curve, mid-range curves etc. How do I know this? I started my aftermarket system with an amp and sub.
Start with aftermarket speakers (cheapest & easiest mod you can audibly tell)
Then a head unit, believe it or not, a good unit transforms everything.
You can get some head units with built in amp & crossover 4 channel outputs that may save you from having to buy a second amp to power speakers.
You will need at least a 2 channel amp to power a sub.
Dash tweeters, I highly recommend the Infinity Kappas. GREAT sound quality and crisp high frequencies.
Link yourself up with Crutchfield, they give great advice and know their stuff.
Hope this helps
TJ
I'm looking at doing sorta the same on my 07 LE, but I'm just wanting to start with a pair of new speakers in the door. Best Buy told me that 6x9 speakers fit, and Crutchfield says they don't. I found a couple of other posts through a Google search that said 6x9 speakers worked, so I'm going on that assumption.
As I said, I just want to start with 2 speakers due to money. I like the factory stuff, but it has just begun to sound not as great as I want it to. I mean my iPhone's earbuds have a better full-range sound, but obviously not as much bass. The Camry factory speakers have good bass, but it sounds like everything else just isn't as clear as it could be.
I have been looking at Infinity and Polk Audio since they seem to be the premier speakers. I liked the Infinity 9623i I saw at Best Buy (but cheaper at Crutchfield) and the Polk Audio MM691 I saw at Fry's (but not the $200 price tag). I haven't bought car speakers in a decade, so I'd love feedback. I think the last ones I bought were Cerwin Vega and Kenwood.
In this search, I have been trying to find specs on the 07 LE factory audio system but don't really know where to look. If anybody has a hookup to that, I would LOVE it!
