If you took your resonator out or have a dual exhaust look here!

Hey I've got a question for all those people that have taken out there resonator and have a dual exhaust on a gen 6 camry. When you take the resonator out, does it add to your mpg? This is what my thought process is (correct me if im wrong), when you take the resonator out, its not being used anymore and thus less constrictions are made on the engine. So does that increase the gas mileage? Im not expecting like a 5 mpg increase, but maybe a 1 mpg increase? Or is my idea completely wrong?

Also, i have a stock dual exhaust on my '09 LE V6 Camry. But it doesn't grumble the way the TRD Dual exhaust does. What would I have to do to make it do that and if I were to do that, would that decrease my mpg?

I wanted to ask you guys on TN this becuase you guys have a ton of more experience with this stuff than me. Thanks for all the help.

To get the TRD sound you have to get the TRD exhaust system. City driving you might lose out a little on the mpg but not a big difference. It all depends on how you drive but either way it won't be anything big. Don't work with V6 cars often so don't quote me on any of this.

It isn't as easy as determining if it'll improve gas mileage or not. It's a fairly technical side to it, since you can lose low end torque if you remove the resonator or try to split a single exhaust to duals. You may need some type of H or X pipe to equalize pressure and balance flow in the exhaust pipes. You might then need some sort of high flow muffler to create more back pressure and help with gas mileage.

our cars are really single pipe with a split at the end... only need a cross pipe if you're going true dual
