Fujita Cold Air Intake AIT

Decided to test how much cold air I could get out of the Fujita using the SG2 and driving around San Bernardino. Ambient temp was right at 66F according to the camry, no AC running, no hard take offs either. At stop lights, temps would jump to high 70s - low 80s FAST. Once I got going it would drop down to 72-74 FAST. I stopped and let it idle for 2-3 minutes and got temps up in the 90s, took off and was down to mid 70s in no time. After all this it looks like the aluminum heats up and cools down pretty fast, affecting AITs as it does. At freeway speeds you can expect 5-7F above ambient. Will test the stock intake this weekend and will post results.

Ah san bernardino is warm lately, maybe you should try it at night-time.

Interesting info, thanks for posting this. My guess is that the stock plastic intake parts will be cooler overall but that the increased airflow allowed by the aftermarket intakes makes up for the slightly elevated temperatures.

Out of curiosity, is your temperature sensor device testing the heat of the air or the metal of the intake? If it is just getting the metal's temperature, I would think that the air is in the intake tube for such a short time that the temp of the metal would have little affect on the fast flowing air going through it.

The ScanGuage II measures the actual air temperature. I would assume that the actual metal pipes would be hotter than the air temps. I got the ambient temps from the car's on board temp guage in the dash. I might get a temp guage and slap a sensor on the intake pipe and record its temp too.

I also expect the stock plastic intake to maintain more consistant temps but air flow to suffer. Im going to program the SG2 to display A/F ratios, maybe that will change a bit as well.
