5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
My dad just came back from the dealer after having some probs with the V6 Gen5. He said the car didn't start until the 5th try. Once fired up, it seemed to misfire and hesitate. While driving at moderate speeds he couldn't accelerate.

bunch of gaskets
The scanner threw code P1125 (Throttle Control Motor Circuit) and the above parts were replaced under warranty according to TSB 1088.
I checked the TSB listed on Alldata.com and couldn't find that particular TSB. Just thought I'd let ya'll know.

um ... I dont like to trust a computer on how I should drive because thats how its gonna get down too. I mean sooner or later they're going to make your right foot obsolete...
wait? gen 5's have drive by wire? jeez, i thought only overpriced cars like mercedes and bmw's had stuff like that. i agree that cable and throttle body are the way to go though. hope it all works out with your car.

Well, if debris gets stuck in the throttlebody, the throttle will still be stuck open regardless of being manual or electronic/drive-by-wire
I never like them from the start... I have seen far too many people removing this feature on other cars. It is popular to remove them on Nissan Sentra Spec V's, VW 1.8T's and VR6's. They are known to have a nasty hesitation between abrupt theottle changes

Hey Tony... I agree with you on that ... I personnally know how throttle by wire is ... I have it in my tundra and you can notice alittle hesitation when slamming your foot to the floor...

Well I meant the outside where the spring is..... debris can't get inside unless you have no filter.
Yes it does kinda hesitate, but I can't seem to notice if the car is Manual, only on the Autos.

Buddy, I am talking about oil/carbon deposits......................... That is what causes the throttlebody to STICK.

You got it the other way around... The Nissan Sentra folks are hating the drive-by-wire because there is a lag between shifts. On a manual trans, you feel engine hesititation more than automatics... Automatic will always have a lag due to kicking down a gear and of course, being a slushbox and running a TC.
