Its really not a K&N CAI, rather a SRI..
As for OEM vs aftermarket filters, there's no real difference with the exception of never having to buy another filter and peace of mind.

I have the drop in K&N and no difference. Maybe just maybe a little sucking sound when you hit the gas but that's about it.

I just did a write-up yesterday on CAI and drop-ins, search my posts and you'll find it - should help alot. Drop-ins are always shipped pre-oiled and ready to use, unless labeled otherwise (haven't seen one otherwise).

K&N or TRD drop-ins will add HP as compared to a dirty paper element (one with 3,000+ miles on it). They compare very closely to a brand new paper element in air flow (measured in cfm or cubic feet per minute). The big benefit is that you don't have to buy a new air filter element every 15,000 miles for the lifespan of a vehicle.

Air filter, paper, element every 15k for 150k miles = $15x10 = $150 for paper elements
K&N filter $50 tops for most vehicles.

I don't see where people get the data to say they filter like crap, that is noise. After using K&N filters on everything from equipment to hot rods, motorcycles to OEM vehicles, I have never had engine damage from anything that got through a K&N filter.
