soo i've asked the forum about these rims long time ago, and if u guys know me. I talk about a mod long before i actually get down and end up doing it. I was waiting for my stock tires to finally get low before putting these rims on.
They are chrome but not so shiny yet cause of the layer of dust from being stocked in the garage.
I don't have tires for them yet....
some questions i need help with, thanks for lammidi long time ago, i'm getting 215/55/17 tires.
1. what's a good cheap tire around 500-600 range? I've been considering the Michelin Primacy MXV4 from tirerack.
2. what's the difference between Grand touring all season and Standard touring season and all these choices?
3. These rims come with three lexus rim logo caps and one is missing... How much and where can i buy toyota ones? I don't really want to front lexus ones for too long hahaha. =p
4. so from what i read on the forums, perform balancing when i install the wheels and also another balancing a week afterward?
5. and what's the deal wiith the tpms? this will most likely be my perm wheels for a long time so is it cheaper to buy a new tpms or swap the ones from my steelies and get them reprogrammed? i remember u guys said might as well buy another one?
i'll update u guys when i get these on!! im excited hahaha. i think it really gives my car a clean oem luxury look hahaha
costco quoted me around 800+ total michilin energy mxv4 s8
and discounttire.com for about 793 for michillin primacy mxv4
is this the typical price for tires for 17"?!?!
I got my winter setup from Costco, one thing to keep in mind about their price, it includes install, road hazard warranty, AND lifetime balancing and rotating. So it's a pretty good deal. The "grand touring" tires are a bit more expensive cuz they're built to last 40, 50, 60k miles (be sure to rotate them every 5k-7k miles). The less expensive performance tires, they'll last 20-30k. Of course, the performance tires will give you better cornering and launching and such. Keep an eye online, costco will run a $60-$80 off coupon every so often.

so i bought my tires from discounttires cause the price was cheaper than costco and it comes with lifetime balancing and rotation.
i went into the store wanting michelin primacy mxv4 - 215/55/17. they spent 20 min trying to mount the damn thing and they couldn't fit it for some reason. so he told me he tried the yokohamas and they fit perfectly... ended up going with the 225/50/17 slightly more low profile so i guess thats a good thing?
700 out the door, the guy didn't recommend the rebuild tmps since the car was fairly new so saved me some money. hopefully i won't have any leakage problems cause i am very scared of that. real pictures coming out alil later. just wanted to throw up these cell pics first
What a nice (or just rich) friend! What brand/size of tires?
You definitely need better quality pictures but from what I can see, your ride looks sweet with those rims. Might need a drop later.
the whole story is, he had a gs400, these rims came from the dealership. he ended up buying newer and bigger rims, dumped his car, cambered all out. the a few years later he got married, sold his car, bought a prius =P hahahahaha big transition huh lolz. so he had these stocked in his garage and didn't need them. i checked craigs list, these rims still going 600?
