2004 Toyota Camry Radio Not Working

My radio was working fine one day--next day I get in the car, start it up and nothing--radio will not go on, at all. I replaced both fuses, which did not appear to be blown when I took them out, and still it is not working. Any thoughts on what could be causing it? I am about to take a long roadtip and the thought of doing that with no radio is painful.

Any thoughts and/or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

How handy are you?

If it's me, I find the wiring plugged into the back of the radio and using a volt meter verify that you have in fact voltage at the radio. There could be other things wrong with the wiring beyond the fuses. If you have voltage at the radio but it still does not work, then the problem is isolated. The radio may have its own fuse internally. I don't know here. Good design practices would put a fuse in the internal circuit, but in any event the fuse should not fail without cause.

The wiring goes through the ignition switch, so there could be a problem there, or you might have pulled the wrong fuse to replace, or other things. If you have the ignition turned on and you have voltage at the plug as it enters the radio, yet the radio is dead, well then, it really is and you need to think about a replacement.

I have used a neanderthal approach, power to radio - BAD - bring power to radio! buy a fuse tap for about a buck and plug it in to a hot lead from the ignition box. Splice in a fuse into the wire, ground it to something else if you have to. POWER GOOD! Otherwise just bring it in somewhere and pay them.
