5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I use the Ecsta SPT's on my car in the summer and am very happy with the performance. I am patiently waiting for April to put them back on. More so to get my wheels back on but I would recommend those tires!
Anybody tested the Nitto 555 extreme performance yet?
I had the Nitto 555 on my 20" before. It's less noisy than the Falken 452 but a little more noisy than the Kumho. I'll take the Nitto 555 over Kumho Ecsta or Falken 452 anytime.

Thanks! I read in some customer reviews that they are not so great in wet conditions...but than others say they are great wet and dry. Any bad experience in wet?

Sorry, it didn't rain at all when I had those Nitto on.

My car came with the Michelin Energy MXV4 tires from the factory. Great wet and dry traction. And they aren't too bad in light snow either. 13,XXX miles and they still look brand new. The only time i really lose traction is if i really nail it from a stop, but any tire will do that with all the power a V6 Camry has at the front wheels.
I have 33,000 miles on mine and they look great.
My buddy just had the tires changed on his 97 (77,000 miles) and he want back with the same tires. The guy at the tire shop was trying to sell him some bridgestones. he told the guy I just got 77,000 miles out of Michelins why would I change?

Just a quick update: I decided to go from ultra performance summer to performance all season with mileage rating of 440 (Nexen). So far so good. The profile does not look as nice/aggressive but the ride is much smoother/quieter than the T1R's ...and I can spin the wheels or make them hop more easily (less grip, harder compound to last longer). I also painted the calipers black while I was at it.
I was shooting for the N3000 but got a super deal on CP662. Not much info about that tire. It's an all season, V-rated tire, not uni-directional, pretty standard looking tread.
I was at the dealer yesterday for service and I had the wheels balanced and rotated. At 42,000 miles on the stock Michelin MX4s, I have a tread depth of 6/32. The dealer was even surprised by this. I have rotated the tires every 6,000 miles since new. I am pleased with the performance so far, however 75% of my driving is highway and the other 25% is sugarsand/dirt roads in the country.
It looks like they make the Micheline Hydroedge in the correct size for my Camry and if that is the case that is what I will be going with. Here in the SE we get lots of rain and these are great rain tires and they wear like iron. My nieghbor is on his second set 178,000 miles.
