eBay vs Aftermarket head unit

Hey there Camry experts. Recently I picked up a 2009 Camry SE. The dealership wanted $1300 plus around $400 to install the NAV unit. I've been looking on ebay today and I see all these units for an 07-09 Camry and they're pretty cheap. I guess my question is would anyone else trust these? Some of the units are from China, and a couple others that I saw are local in the US. I'm just wondering about the quality and fit.

Has anyone else had experience with these units from ebay or is everyone mostly going with double din aftermarket equipment?

Thanx for any input...

Some are happy with it, but I'm happy with my Garmin GPS.

Is buying from the dealer and installing yourself an option?

You can get top quality aftermarket units and DIY for 1000 or even less depending upon unit. DIY is not as intimidating as it sounds, go to cructhfield and they'll help you out. After you do your own installation you'll think you were nuts to even have thought about giving the dealership 400$ as you then think of a thousand ways you can now spend that 400 on other mods

The Nuvi kicks ass, can go in any car, costs only a couple hundred dollars, and gets reasonably-priced updates.

You have been getting a little frustrated at the new guys lately lol. I know what you mean though.

ldog: don't look on ebay so much, just go on google and search. You will find a lot of options.

Thanx for the input peeps. It's not so much that I was looking at the NAV option as I was a double din deck with DVD and ipod controls. Those ipod cable kits are expensive, and if I'm gonna spend the cash, I might as well get something that i'll enjoy. I can just use my netbook for my gps if need be.

I guess trying to manipulate the whole unit out of the dash in a brand new car doesn't appeal to me too much. It's a lot different than the flip out dvd I installed in my 98 VW Beetle.

But like I said, I was looking for some input to see what others may have done, or if anyone has purchased one from ebay that claim to fit the 09 Camry.
