Aftermarket bluetooth with steering wheel controls?

I was wondering if it would be possible to get an aftermarket bluetooth system and hook it up to the steering wheel bluetooth controls. Can this be done?

Also if I were to go to the dealer to get bluetooth hooked up in my car do I need the JBL sound system in order to have it?

Unfortunately I don't know the answer to this, but I would just recommend calling the dealer, or calling a local radio shop.

The non-JBL head unit doesn't support Bluetooth.

Seems like a third party head unit would be the simpliest solution.

Strange... the dealer had offered me to get a bluetooth upgrade on my car for 250 dollars. The only thing is he can only install it above the sunglass holder. I wanted to have steering wheel controls for it. Ill call the dealer first thing in the morning and give an update here I guess. Was hoping someone knew so I wouldn't have to call them and have to explain everything.

well that sounds like a simple fm transmitter, i know motorola makes one that clips on the sunvisor and would trasmist to a FM station on your radio so you will hear it through the speakers. I think you can get that for less then 250.

Never dealt with one of those but don't think you need the dealer for that. Try to find out a model number of the device he would install.

I called a local stereo shop and they said that integrating with the steering wheel controls gets very expensive. They said to just stick with an overhead/console bluetooth setup that integrates with the stereo using an FM receiver.

On a personal note, I wouldn't waste the money for something like this. Just get the visor bluetooth speakerphone things for $50 and spend the rest on a rear sway bar.
