5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I already performed a brief search for an answer to my question here, but did not find a conclusive answer. So I apologize if this has already been asked. I recently bought a 5th rim, tire, and TPMS for my 07 Camry to be used as a full-size spare. I contacted my local dealership in an effort to have them program the 5th sensor to be recognized by the Camry's computer. However, to my dismay, the representative told me that I had to bring the car in so they could check to see if there is an open 5th "slot" on the computer. I was under the impression (but not sure why) that Camrys had the ability to monitor the pressure in a full-size spare if equipped with a TPMS. Am I wrong?

The factory spare does not have TPMS but there is a place to add TPMS for a spare tire in the programming.
Hope the OP wrote the TPMS serial number down before it was installed in the spare tire
Thank you very much for the responses. Yes, I wrote the FCC ID numbers down and had the tire and wheel mounted this weekend. Next I will have Toyota program the information at my next oil change.
Thank you again.
