USA Anyone with expierence with the Eonon e1052 head unit on Gen6 Camry

Ok I want to replace the head unit on my gen6 camry but want to keep the OEM look. Seems like the cheap chinese brands are what is best for me, I know not some of the audiophiles around here but it seems good for my needs.

I don't want crazy good sound that I won't be able to tell the difference anyway and a name brand on the head unit. Just want some features that I don't currently have and this particular head unit seems to have most of them.

I am aware of the durability issues that these units are said to have, but i want to know is if anyone here has installed one of these Eonon head units, specifically the e1052, Any pros, any cons? Anything to watch out for? Any funcionality that would be lost?

Here is a link to the item on the retailers website, hope someone may have some info. Thanks ahead of time for any useful information given.

http://www.eonon.com/index.php?contr...etails&pid=100

P.S. I did use the search button, no one on the forum had posted anything about the e1052 specifically,

Wow that one looks nice.

However, with the Chinese low priced units its usually the user interface/GUI on the screen itself that looks ugly or is not very efficient to use.

I may consider getting that one though in the future, hadn't seen it before. Only seen the ones on eBay.

Yeah I know buying from the Chinese means that there is no warranty on it and if it does it will be pulling teeth to get it honored. I figure for the price if it breaks in two years there will probably be something out that is better quality and I will still spend less with both combined purchases then buying one of the name brand units that offer the same features.

I emailed customer support about the where abouts for the gps box to make the gps work. I have seen some other ones on ebay with the gps box included but they want 569$, i can get this unit for under 400$, so if i can find a gps box for less then the difference I might go that way.

So far no on has tried this unit or any Eonon head unit?

Long and old discussion buying directly Chinese brands...guys, look at the back of most of your electronics equipment and read where it is been made...I bet you will find China, Taiwan the most. Also, warranty and shipping from/to China is not a problem these days anymore. Many of these vendors simply replace the units when they fail...simply because it is cheaper than repairing them.

Now, the Chinese based Camry has a different headunit than the US based Camry. I played around with them and they have video and some other nifty features...and they look just like the once often advertised on Alibaba or Made-in-China and the likes. So, why not buying from them directly and save some money?

PS: Agree on the GUI issue with the cheap Chinese replicas, but they also get better

PS2: Couple months ago we had a discussion where Denso makes their products....and I believe we found out that the Nav units are manufactured in China as well.

I actually put one into my buddy's Taco about 4 months ago.

It works, I mean, it isn't a Kenwood or Sony by any means. But it serves its purpose as far as playing DVD's. The sound quality was okay. I would personally stick with a brand name you can trust.

Why do these guys waste their time on big forums like TN? There are so many people with experience that it's nearly impossible to go fishing and actually catch someone with a bad product.

To the OP: Save up some more and buy something that will last you more then 2 years (as you expect) and that works and you can go to a store and return it.

If u look on ebay, there are the same headunits manufactured in China but Sold by vendors in US, in my case is Antelope, Norcal. They might be noticably 20-50$ higher in sale price due to shipping, however it would be alot easier to communicate and return the product when / if it went bad ...

P.S.: My iphone is made in China too, still working great after nearly 2 years ...
