5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I am thinking about purchasing a set of light gray Kosei K1 TS wheels and Goodyear Eagle GT tires. I was wondering if anyone here has the Kosei wheels on their Gen. 6 and if they have pictures of it? I did a search and found one member who said they were ordering the Kosei rims, but I did not find any pictures.
Total price for the wheels and tires mounted and balanced from Tirerack is $1,148 + $141 to ship = $1,289 total price.
I mainly like the Kosei wheels because of how light they are which will improve handling, braking, and acceleration. 18"x7.5 Kosei T1s are only 16lbs compared to the TRD 18" wheels which are a very heavy 25lbs, but I am still hoping someone would have a picture of them on a Gen.6 Camry
Thanks,
-Chris
PS. - Also, how much could I sell my stock SE wheels and Toyo tires? They only have 1000 miles on them.

These wheels have a similar design as the one I have. Not bad at all, just the center has too many holes for my taste, looks like a multi-fit wheel. But for $159/rim for a 16lbs /18" rim is really a steal. Hope that they hold up well. I would say go for it - if you do have any issue, Tirerack is very good with their service.

I was looking at some other light weight wheels as well, but they each had problems.
I was looking at the Nexo PX5 but a lot of people are having problems with the paint peeling. I also like the look of the MB Boost wheels, but they are a bit heavier (20lbs) and some people have had their rims bent after hitting small potholes.
The Kosei K1s design isn't my top choice. I would like to find a good 5 spoke wheel, but they are all out of my price range.
18's with a lip like that may look smaller or even too small on the car...maybe go 19's with the lip.

I don't think I will go with a 19" rim. The cost of tires will be a lot more and there aren't any light weight 19" rims in my price range.
And those Kosei's don't come in 19", only 17 or 18".
I also like the look of the Drag DR-35, but their +42 offset may be too much. They are light weight, around 18lbs for the 18" but I've read many people saying that Drag Wheels are chinese knockoffs and crack real easily.
Finding gunmetal/dark gray rims in general is hard enough, let alone trying to find a decent lightweight wheel. If anyone has gunmetal rim recommendations, please post them here.

Not many in 18" that fit the Camry. There are only 6 18" rims that fit the Camry that are gunmetal/dark gray on tirerack.
Two of the rims are Volks with each being $700+ for each rim. That is WAY out of my budget. I love Volk wheels, but I can't justify spending over $700 or more on one wheel.
A couple others are Enkei. They are nice but a little on the heavy side.
And then the 6th rim I could find on Tirerack in gunmetal/dark gray is the Kosei K1.
Then there are the MB Boost (discount tires) and Nexo PX5 (wheel max) rims which I am also considering, but those are on the back burner for now after reading the horror stories about them.
I love the look of the Nexos, especially Akira's car. Mine is Mag Grey and I will be getting the TRD springs isntalled. Ultimately I would like to have my car look like Akira's. The Nexos are damn sexy if you ask me.

Would you happen to know of any rims with 8.5 or 9" wide that are under $200? That is my max budget. I saw a few 8.5" rims at tirerack and wheelmax, but they were all either bright silver or chrome and very expensive.
TO bad they don't make the Nexos larger than 7.5".
I had a set of Kosei wheels back when I had my 97 Prelude. Nice clean looking wheels...I'm surprised they're still around. I don't see a lot of cars that have them.
