Right or wrong filter?

I have a 2008 Solara (I4). Since I've had it, it's been using the same filter I used for my old Celica, a 90915-YZZF1. Yesterday I went to the dealership and picked up a new filter. Didn't really look at it until today when I went to put it on the car and it's a F2 instead of a F1. I put it on my car anyway, but I haven't driven it. Does it matter? Should I take it off??

Should be fine. Did you notice if there was any difference size?

Toyota only has two spin-on filter for I4 cars and the only difference between the two is one is about 1/2 in taller. Gasket and threads are the same.

Many aftermarket companies only make the smaller size and sell it as replacement for both applications.

It was a little longer, but diamater was exactly the same. And yes, the threads, too, which is why I didn't hesitate to put it on, but then I was questioning myself. Thank you!

F2 and F1 have the same diamater, the F1 is just taller.
i have always used the F1 for my I4 camry and thats what the dealer reccomends and uses. they are interchangable, but i perfer the extra oil capacity of the taller filter
