5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
i mean a fully loaded camry comes out to be like 32-33... fully loaded ES is usually in the low 40
s and i think a lexus is alot more car then a camry is but thats just my opinion... my brother always hated on people who bought them but i think its a huge step up from a camry cause they are usually more refined and have alot more amenities... if you want a 4 cylinder stick to the camry i think and if you can afford a 40 k car then go for the ES which is an intelligent choice

this statement would of been fully true if it wasn't for the gen 6 xle. the differences between today's es350 and the xle v6 camry that i have are minimal. to be completely honest my dad didn't know what to choose but the camry had payments that were a few dollars cheeper, it was faster, looked better, and even had a option that the lexus doesnt have.
good for the camry:
looks better, faster 0-60, reclining back seats, better cutoff than lexus (atleast in my opinion), cheeper, arguably better leather.
good of the es330:
power sun shade, cooled seats, memory seats, wooden steering wheel, hids with adaptive lighting.
it depends on really what u need but i think especially comparing the 09 camry to 09 es350, both cars are very similar and it matters really only if u want a L symbol in the front and back and some small tweaks that make the car a wee bit more luxourious OR if u want something very close to the lexus but cheepr and in a package that satisfies every aspect(looks, options, pocket, etc...)
why would you want to buy an overpriced camry? go for the is330 if you want to improve.
try driving one before you make that statement
you would be suprised what the extra money gets you...better sound insulation, less wind noise, less powertrain noise, less vibration/feedback, auto wipers, adapative HIDs, better ride quality and handling, better brakes (i have 2 piston front calipers), more electrics, better quality materials, real wood, mark levinson sound, and a crap load of other stuff...
oh yeah and i finally have a security system

+1 My wife GS rides so good that she doesn't want me come near her car because she affraid I'm gonna mod it and mess up the comfortable ride.
Which I don't blame her because...you get what you paid for.

You need to drive both regularly to really make such a statement. I have both the current gen ES350 and Camry XLE V6 - and trust me they are NOT the same car. Looks are subjective, but its the quality and features that can be measured. For the money, you get better quality inside the Lexus, fit and finish feels more solid as well.
ES gets you:
- Better leather quality, especially with the semi-analine (same stuff in the LS) is many times better than the Camry's.
- Mark Levinson with DVD-changer (that's right, its not just a CD changer) is just an amazing sound system
- Higher resolution nav screen
- panoramic glass roof is very cool.
- You can also get the parking sonar system and reverse camera with the ES that's not yet available with the Camry.
- LED interior lighting
- Of course, you get better warranty with the Lexus (50K/5 years)
They're both great cars, and I am not putting the Camry down in any way - I am just being objective from the point of view of a person who drives both regularly.
