At dealership trying to turn off seatbelt sound

Hey I am at my toyota dealer on my iPhone. I'm trying to get them to turn off my seatbelt sound. I read on here that they can do that.

They are telling me that it's not possible on an 09. They said the manual is wrong and havnt been updated for 09.

He said they tried for another customer and the computer only let's them turn down the time for that alarm. Not turn it off. They said a popup with a legal MSG comes up when they try to. I asked them whay law and he didny know said toyoya deals with that. Can someone tell me if this can be done?

I'm still at the dealer waiting for my car to be finished oil change so if someone replies now I can tell them.

Thanks

Possible on the '07s and '08s.

You'll have to download an '09 Service Manual .............

I believe he is right. Also, depending on your state the dealer could be held liable if something happened to you. Don't forget we live in the sue happy USA.

Go slap em in the face with your iphone! It can be done, 07-09 is the same.

It'll cost you 1hr of labor cost tho.

The thing is I WAS talking to someone at service. He was the assistant manager. I will just go there next week and tell them I was told by Toyota that this can be done at the dealership.

I almost started an argument but backed off considering that these guys are the ones I have to go to to get my car serviced every time.

Stupid dealerships, refusing to help a customer out. It sucks when you have to say Toyota told me to tell you that .. and they are supposed to be Toyota.

Look in your owner's manual. It has a list of everything that can be activated/deactivated to the user's preference. On my '08, I asked them politely to deactivate the seat-belt chime and the audible beep's for the alarm/immobilizer. Plus, I referred to the page in the owner's manual that it can be done.

Just an update for everyone:

Toyota (im guessing from the corporate center) called me with a phone survey. I told them that the oil change was good but I was lied to in my face by the assistant service manager regarding this issue. She said she will send the notes to the supervisor and we ended the conversation. A few days later, maybe two or three, my dealership calls me to schedule an appt to do what I requested. I ask them why the change of mind, they said that it was because none of the techs knew about this procedure. Only the "master foreman" knew about it. That is complete BS. When I was there the assistant service manager asked some guy in front of me if it can be done (this guy supposedly just went for training regarding servicing etc).

Long story short, I am due on April 4th to get this done. I am going to raise hell when I am there that I had to go through this long process to get this d*mn thing done. At this point its not even about getting it turned off. Its about the trust I gave to the dealership for the past 2-3 years when I had them service my 99 and 2000 camrys.

Next on the list... My salesman misleading me by telling me that all the carpets and mats were included but informing me after purchase that the trunk mat is extra. Thats a nono in my book. Its either "all mats excluding the trunk mat" or "all mats".

This dealership is the biggest in the Atlanta area so I went to them. There are 3 others about the same distance but they are not as big. Will have to check them out for the future.

dont go there and "raise hell" or else who knows what they are going to do to your car. If you act like an asshole, you will get assholes in return.

On another note, I am glad that they turned around and agreed to disable the chime. I tried getting my DRL's disabled on my gen 5.5 and i was told that it was not possible. I said whatever and I got help from Djkor how to make a super simple modification that took 5 mins to disable them.

Good luck with the dealership and i hope nothing bad happens to your car if youe raise hell
