Is there anyway to SHORTEN a GEN5 shifter?

Hey guys...
I have always been a fan of a low-lying shifter in my manual car, and the gen 5's shifter is just atrocious to me.
Has anyone tried shortening the shifter in any way?I noticed a few gen6'ers have done it for their cars, but our shifters are different looking. I am of course talking about the auto

If there isn't one for sale. You can cut it and rethread it, but you have to get it down the same same diameter and thread size.

the only thing about cutting it is that we have an over drive button
and you might run into problems with wiring

i cut mine down with a reciprocating saw and installed a universal knob.ill work on gettin pics.

i really like the shfters in the GEN 6 camry's so i wanted to fit those....they dont have an OD button do they?

did take a look at the threads but yea thae od button might be in the way. I think a member on here put a aftermarket knob on and he just relocated the button Im sure you can cut the shaft a few inches in the process

It's for looks, its like the same concept as your shortened shifter. So you better go let some air out of your tires

i never had an issue with the shifter in my gen 5...
you could use the DIY that was posted above, but thats about your only option
