5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I used Meguiar's Gold Wax and it takes about 15-20 minutes to apply, 1-2 hours to let dry properly, then about 10-15 minutes to remove. Then I follow that up with Turtle Max Ice polish which takes about the same time as the wax. I know it is kind of redundant, but Ice looks WAY better than just the wax. The whole process takes about 3-4 hours.
Zaino takes about the same amount of time, except I have to use ZFX, then Z5, then maybe Z6. The whole process ends up taking 3-4 hours.
I think the Zaino polish ends up looking better, but the wax/polish process is cheaper.
10 minutes to wax a car... What? Do you have a Matchbox car?
/agree... this was the first time I'd had a chance to throw wax on the car since I bought it. Felt like I was detailing a minivan the Camry is so huge compared to my other cars.

dude 1-2 hours for it to dry...wrong....I have been waxing for 35 years never heard that one....wow
Takes me 2 hours, i do every inch of the car, door jams, sills, under the hood, trunk, head lighst tales, every chrome piece, i even do the windows. and exhaust.
10mins isn't even long enough to let the stuff dry, let alone do every inch of the car...

I normally wait about 1 hour, but depending on humidity, I said 1-2 hours. Normally I just go watch a movie or something, then come back to remove the wax.
I use Mother's wax. I've been using this on all family cars probably for the last 10 years. It takes me HOURS and HOURS to wax the Camry cuz it's such a long beast.
I've also had great success with Mother's clay bar and "Showtime" prep solution. It made my side mirror housings all smooth again. The clay bar removes impurities on the paint, and also those "caked in" little bumps you get over time. But you MUST wax after you use the clay bar because otherwise the paint isn't sealed.

okay so i exaggerated a bit but i understand the detailing process takes long. But the wax application doesnt take that long. I think i was more focused on the time it took to apply it. Unless you guys are putting down thick coats, i think 10-15 mins should be enough to cover the car. As for drying, i just let it sit for 15 mins or so. Then another 10-15 mins to wipe it off.
So I really mean to say like 45 mins. But not 2 hours.
Oh ya btw for people who are using wax found at your local auto store, MOST (not all) of them are just cleaner waxes with a bit of polish in them (i believe the meguiars nxt one is a cleaner wax) and putting down various coats is useless because the polish will just strip away the previous coat of wax.
I waxed my car ones by putting on the wax on the whole car and then wiping off and it came out like crap. I had to wipe my car in the sun so i could notice where the wax was showing. That stuff just wouldn't come off. IDK why it was like that.
