Need Help on 2002 toyota camry

Hello everybody,

My father changed coolant on his 2002 toyota coolant, but he did not use the toyota coolant. He used Prestone All Makes All Models Extended Life Antifreeze/Coolant. He just drained the old toyota red coolant and then fill with 70% of Prestone coolant and 30% of water. I need some suggestion what to do. Is it ok to use that coolant? or I just drain that new coolant and buy toyota red coolant and refill. Thank in advance.

no it's not safe to use that kind of coolant on toyota cars. toyota uses a special blend on coolant and transmission. you need to flush your radiator with water and drain it over and over again untill its clear. when its clear now use the red or the pink coolant from toyota. do not use tap water use distilled water only.

If you read the manual, it also says not to use 70% coolant and 30% water. Maximum mix is 60/40. Normal conditions use 50/50. I would have it flushed out and redo.

This may be off topic, but especially for the transmission (if yours is an automatic), use only Toyota brand, type IV. Or best, check your manual. I have a 2002 as well, I only use Toyota products.
