Finally getting some rims and new tires and need some advice. I'm going with STARR chrome rims and just want to make sure the sizing is correct. The guy at the shop recommended 20 x 7.5 rims with 40 offset ( he said he couldn't guarantee rubbing with 8.5, is there a big difference in overall look?) and for the tires he recommended going 225/35/20 Kumho ECSTA SPT tire. What do you guys think about the tire size? Is it going to be to thin or what? Should I go 235? I also plan on lowering the car in a few month with some trd springs. He quoted me $1800 for both the rims and tires. The rims are starr 959 sidious chrome with black. Any help would be appreciated.

I would rather take the 20x8.5 +40mm. The 20x7.5 will look tucked in too much. 225/35/20 is a little stretched on the 8.5 and looks to wide on the 7.5 (my opinion as the tire is a touch wider than the rim). On the 8.5, you could go 235 wide.
agreed, I just got quotes for 18x8 for brands like helo, american racing, kmc, cativo, devino, bentchi b14, b15, vct Luciano, and gangster for $1000 including tires and mounting...and $850 for a set with Motegi

Where are you finding such low prices? Is this all from a local shop or are you ordering the rims/tires online and having it installed at your local shop?

+1 20x8.5 +40 offset will fit without rubbing even if you're lowered.

A "local" store (well, 45 miles from me in Orlando). They have overstock, not enough customers etc etc and have great sales. He charges me a sporadic $20 for install and even offered to deliver to me for free (he runs that route regularly down to the beach). Times are good for buying...not so when you are on the other side.
