Softening ride on 09 Camry SE

Hello,

New to the forums. =)

My dad has a 09 Camry SE and my mom has a bad back and complains that the ride is way too bumpy.

Is there anyway to soften the ride? Can we change the springs and/or shocks to the standard LE or XLE? Will it even make a difference? How about the tire size or even the tire itself? Will that make a difference?

Any suggestions is appreciated.

Thanks,

Alan

Yes, change the tires from SE to non-SE will also soften the ride because the SE has 17" and non-SE has 16" tires which has a bigger sidewall compare to 17".
I will be the first one to say that I will be happy to trade my stock LE rims/tires for your SE rims/tires.

true, bigger sidewall tires will definitely smoothen the ride out.

You have LE wheels?

I'll trade your HR2 for my SE wheels.

I know for a fact LE feels MUCH more smoother than an SE. My supervisors LE is awesome as far as comfort goes. As far as looks go... THUMBS DOWN!

The easiest way is to replace the stock tires with some touring tires.

Read up on the Tire Rack to find out which ones are the quietest and offer the softest ride.

And run your tire pressure at the factory recommended spec.

I wouldn't change anything if I were you. I've had both the LE and SE, and I can barely feel the difference.

Better do research before swapping with anyone...like how many miles the struts/springs have etc etc...

But there is a difference. 1" is a lot in rims/tire size.
There is a noticeable difference from 17" to 18" to 19" to 20".
