5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Whoa, sorry, forgot to mention that I was comparing the Venza V6 and RX350. And like I said, I am comparing two equivalently equipped vehicles, not the base models. I never take my car in for regular oil changes and basic service at the dealership so the cost of those things is not important. But if I need to get warranty work or something done, the Lexus service centers will offer loaner cars and are much more pleasant to deal with.
To answer the OP's question: Both vehicles are easy to drive, though the rearward visibility from the driving seat was far worse on the Venza. Both had plenty of power with the V6, but I doubt the 4-cyl Venza would be up to the task of moving that thing.
They are nice, but I personally did not like the big, boxy feel of it. Too many blind spots. Oh and I am not a fan of the crossover-type cars. Not bad looking, but not my cup of tea. Comparing it to a Camry is like comparing apples and oranges...

You won't get as much performance out of a V6 Venza as a SE V6 Camry since it rides higher so center of gravity is higher. Plus the suspension is different and Venza doesn't have V brace as well.
I test-drove the Venza a couple of weeks ago. The handling is a little heavy compared to the Camry V6. It doesn't take off as quick as the Camry because of its weight. It is definately a comfortable ride.
it depends on what you want. if you want to put into the car more passengers or cargo then get a venza. if you want a sleeper car that can still take some baggage and 4 other people while doing a high 5 0-60 then get the camry. venza is almost lexus territory but u have to remember that you should compare highlander to rx350 and not venza. a full equipped venza has the options in there and i think the quality/ride to justify the price. though i do agree i'd rather take the lexus than the venza.
You guys comparing the Venza with the RX are not comparing equivalent vehicles. The Venza is classified as a car with a tow rating of only 3500# with a 0-60 in 6.7secs. The Highlander, which is what I would use to compare against the RX has a tow rating of 5000#. Just do a comparison on the Toyota website and compre the Venza, Camry, HL and RX. The RX is 10K more than the Venza and HL and 14K more than the Camry. I drove one when looking at HLs and its a nice CAR (Toyota classifies it as a Sedan), I dont know if Id consider it a crossover though. The Nissan Murano (Which Ive had as well) is similar to the Venza but more crossoverish with a higher stance and more towing capacity. Just go test drive one and find out for yourself.
