DIY for Brake job?

Is there a DIY for brake pads? I found this but it's for a 3rd gen:

DIY: Brake Pad Change (56k, grab a Snickers)

I'm sure there are many differences between the 3rd and 5th gens right? I think I should be good but I just want to double check.

its pretty much the same, gen 3 and gen 5 at least in terms of the front brakes. you should have no problems following the gen DIY for your gen 5. one thing i would do differently than the DIY you linked, is only undo the bottom bolt... that way you can just swing up the caliper and use a string or a hanger to hang the caliper on the spring so that its not hanging by the hose.

See Below for the VIN Decoder Chart. If your first number is a 2, use the TMC torque specs. If its a 4, use the TMMK specs. If its a J, sorry, can't help you. I don't have the manual for the Japan made camry's.

On a related note... I have a Gen5 XLE too... abt 75K miles.

Brakes are fine, no vibration etc. Just that it does not have the "bite".

Can I replace just the pads (with oem) and not the rotors? (I don't have a caliper guage to measure thickness). If I do so what is the bed-in procedure?

And the rear rotors, I dont think those will ever wear out.
