Does the stock headunit play CDRW or DVDs?

Does anyone know if the stock headunit thats non JBL (dont think that it matters) can read CDRWs or better yet DVDs? I wanted to store MP3 files on them. I dont have any of them laying around to check. Have anyone tried this or know?

I'm using CD-RW for my music. Always!

You better start reading Kidd!

CD-RW yes, DVD-RW no. I use my radio (non-JBL) exclusively for mp3 playback from CD-RW's.

CDRW: Yes.
DVD: No.

Does the regular non-JBL not have a 6 disk changer? I don't know cuz I gots the JBL, but 6 mp3 disks is like 72 albums. You need more than that?

On a side note, one thing that really pisses me off about the 6 mp3 disk changer is that the damn thing has to re-read the disks every time you switch between them. It just completely blows my mind why they wouldn't put a simple memory bank to keep the music titles for fast searching and quick switching. (Sorry, I'm venting)

I love having the single disc player with an mp3 cd, but I would kill to have 6 cd's packed with mp3's.

If it plays CDRWs that is great news to me!

Sad thing about the DVD-Rs though.

To be honest man, it's not that much of a benefit having the 6 disk changer if you use all MP3 cd's like I do. When you eventually fill up all 6 slots with disks that have 12 albums each like me, you get stuck looking for a needle in a hay stack if you want to listen to something in particular. The lack of a disk library/search feature is a major design flaw IMO.

Believe me, it's faster to switch one by one than go searching through a changer. The JBL does make up in sound quality though =)

I think he was asking about DVD's discs is because you could potentially store 4.7 gigabytes of MP3 files on them vs. 700 megabytes on a cd-rw.

You can store files on a DVD as data files. If you use a DVD-DL then you can store up to 7-8 GB of content. Thats a lot of MP3s

Well, a single CD can hold more than 200 songs.

I wouldn't scroll over 200 just to find my favorite song... "The First Cut Is The Deepest."

My CD only has 25-30 songs the most in MP3 format, those are my favorite ones only. The rest, stays in the computer.
