i live in texas and im trying to figure out whether or not Headlight/Tailight is legal here. i already ordered them so it doesnt matter. i just wanted to know if i should sell them. i have a 06 camry le
Not too sure bout here in TX. If you find out, please let me know. I plan on doing the same. I live in Sugar Land, TX. It's about 15 minutes away from the southwest side of Houston.
It's hard for me to picture cops being tougher and more annoyingly in your business in Texas vs NY or Cali. Headlights tinted, in many opinion is kind of dangerous unless you have brighter headlights, tinted tails in NY have gotten me looks and pulled over, and I am not the only one. To hell with em, you can see my brake lights and reverse, it looks great, I'll dea lwith the occassional pull-overs. Enjoy your mods dude!
I live in houston and I have the smoke LED tailights and so far I havent got any trouble with the law because of this...but Im not sure about the headlights
the films dont seem too be so expensive so why not put em on and if cops pull you over for em then be nice and take it off in front of him. he wont most likely give u ticket and then u eather put em back on or leave em off.

That'd be one nice cop....you've got many nice ones there in Joisey no?
specially because i know many of em and my uncle is one of em. i actually can't really get stopped where i live since i know all the cops bc when i used to work at this gas station they all came for gas. but in all seriousness many of em are real nice around here. if u take it off then why should he give you a ticket. you learned your lesson..... plus they got lots of other things to worry bout. one dude drowned his sister's daughter in a local river because he was mad at her.. man people really have something wrong with their heads.
Personally i would never tint (no matter how light) the headlights...just seems stupid to me...
x2 i never understood tinting the headlights... they are there to help you see at night... unless you have a good set of HID bulbs and projectors, I cant see any benefit other than aesthetic, which hardly warrants the mod.

The Smoke LED taillights are different from tinted taillights. The smoke LED is still clear and visible. Not to mention, its SAE & DOT approved. If you were to tint it dark, its like getting your windows tinted to limo.

If you can peel tints in front of a cop with bare hands, that must be some poor tinting.

I agree with you 100%. Somehow poseurs love that stuff though (along with tinted tail lights). It's just making it more dangerous for everyone else.
Any time light passes through any kind of "film" or "filter", the output gets decreased so whether you tint or smoke, you are putting out LESS light. And that right there is the bottom line + FAIL.

The smoke could probably pass for some sort of clear variant of LEDs... and the LEDs are very bright, so I'm not surprised you are OK.
i like blackhousing like everyone else says. was joking bout the taking off the tint part. of course it wouldnt come off easily. i'm just getting SE headlights for my retro and going with original look for tailights.
well i live in jersey city and drive all over the place im always in ny and always in newark belleville and all the harsher areas where u would get ticketed more and i have not had any problems wit either my headlights or tails, reason more being is that the light still shines thru. if i can i will take pics of the lights on tonite. my reason for having them is i like the way they look i had them on a prior car i had they make the car look very aggressive and makes it more distinct from other camrys, everywhere i go all i see r camrys by the bunch and one mod which is inexpensive is smoking them out. by the way mines are permanently painted.
my camry
this is bmw 2000 328i on h and r coilovers, ac schnizter front and rear lip, reflashed ecu, dinan intake and smoked out headlights.
