Gen5 Car Alarm

Last week my front right passenger window had a gaping hole in it. When I entered my vehicle, I noticed my GPS system stereo was jacked from my head console, subs, amps, capacitors, ipod cable, HD radio receiver. Fortunately my niece was borrowing my IPOD 5G so those bastards did not steal it. IF they did I would go really ballistic. The tint fortunately held the window together. I imagined they had a hard time getting it because all they could do is make a hole in the window. SO I fixed my window with tint couple of days later and still waiting for insurance to verify my claims.

ALl this happened in broad daylight in the school parking lot. Can you believe it?

I was wondering what is the best alarm system for my Camry 05? I do not want to this incident to happen again. I want an alarm system that will sound if the window is broken.

What school do you go to? I go to UCR which is kinda near Moreno Valley. I've had 2 things happen to my car just in this past few months. I'd probably just get a basic 2-way paging alarm with all the sensors you want but without remote start.

You park in Lot 30 or something? I don't have any alarm, just the stock keyless entry one. I've done all my research on alarms but my parents won't let me spend any more on the car, regardless of its been broken into. If I could, I'd get the tilt sensors, glass breaking sensor, and anything else that you feel would be necessary. I've heard that DEI products are pretty much similar. That would include Viper, Python, and Clifford if I recall correctly. You can get these at regular stores like Best Buy or any car places/shops that have that stuff. I don't really have hook-ups for these anymore though so it would be expensive to install (at least $300 and upwards for these components.) But the 2-way paging is good since your remote will alert you when the car is being tampered with (as long as you're in range).

Ya I always park at Lot 30. I was thinking of the viper system from Bestbuy. Any feedback from that?

Viper 5901 gives you 1 mile radius. However, thats 1 mile of open space. If you're inside a building or in a hallway, that cuts down on reception.

Get your alarm professionally installed. Go to viper.com and search for authorized installers. A true professional installer will hide the wires, the brain and solder the wires. Best Buy is a cheap alternative. Workers there might skimp on the craftsmanship and quality. They might even crimp the wires. I'm not saying all would but you never know.
