Want New Alloys, But want to keep MPG. Any Ideas?

Been looking around for some 16's or 17's, but most weight 20+ pounds. I really don't want to lose 2 or 3 mpg just for looks. I'm guessing my steel wheels weigh around 16 LBs or so. Should I just try to find some hybrid wheels? Any ideas? Thanks!

Or maybe you should consider lightweight aftermarket rims?

I've been looking at some, but it looks like they are either light and ugly or heavy and beauiful

if you want to go cheap, most Rotas and Kyowas are lightweight.

You sure those stealies are only 16lbs? When I went from stock stealies to the IS wheels I could tell the IS 18s were lighter.

steelies are called steelies for a reason... 3x heavier than aluminum...

If you want lighter rims, you need to be ready to spend cash and get forged rims...

my 18's are 19 lbs...

SSR Comps are extremely light... so are volks

SSR wheels are sweet, very expensive but sweet. They are "sonically" forged. Not classically forged, but much stronger than cast. I do believe Tirerack purchased all SSR rights, so they pretty much own that brand now. I have had 3 sets of SSR wheels and they are quality.

Well, I just gave in to looks and bought 4 '07 Lexus ES350 17x7 alloy wheels. They are friggin beautiful and very unusual looking. I'll try to get some pics posted when I get 'em. Thanks for all the ideas guys. Oh, my bad on the weight of the steel wheels, I was just guessing their weight cause I couldn't find any spec on them. That's great if the alloys end up much lighter than the steelys. Thanks again!

konig heliums and motegi traklites come to mind (probably the only motegis i'd consider), in addition to the ssr lineup.

Your HR2's are 21 lbs? I'm impressed because of the thicker spokes, I was expecting more and I heard the HR5's are like 27 lbs?... Either way, I want to keep my wheel weights under 20 pounds...

Yep... I have a set of GT1's... They've served me well, but it's time for them to get new paint... Too many chips... I've been looking for a set of Comp Type-C's or TE-37's... I'll jump on it once a deal comes around
